Nanna DITZEL

1923-2005

Nanna Ditzel, 1923. Danish. Graduated from the furniture department of the School of Arts and Crafts Copenhagen. Has been studying under Prof. Kaare Klint at the Royal Academy Copenhagen. Member of IDD and DIA.Speaks English and German. Knowledge in French. Nanna Ditzel is working with experimental and industrial design furniture, textiles, silver, faience and glass. Has experimented with the use of split level living for indoors and outdoors. The ideas have been carried through in playgrounds, children libraries and showrooms. Freelance designer. Design Office and Showrooms in London. Nanna Ditzel started independent Design Office in 1946 together with Jorgen Ditzel. The co-operation lasted until the death of Jorge Ditzel in 1961. Carried on the above mentioned activites from the Design Office in Copenhagen until 1968. From then on based in London. Many study journeys in Europe, Mexico, USA and the Far East. One man shows in Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo, London, Berlin, Vienna and New York. Nanna Ditzel received gold and silver medals at the Trienale Milan and the Lunning prize.
